Profil

TRANSPORT RESEARCH CENTRE (CDV) performs research and development activities and provides professional expertise and service support for public and private sector in the field of transport.
It deals with key fields, such as road safety, technology of construction, maintenance, repairs and reconstructions of transport infrastructure, including geotechnical aspects and diagnostics of transport structures.
Furthermore, it deals with impacts of transport and its infrastructure on the environment, traffic psychology, traffic education, parking systems, and much more. In addition, it focuses on smart mobility and new technologies, such as autonomous systems in transportation.
This year CDV introduces:
- special drone used for inspections of bridge constructions,
- monitoring vehicle for parking surveys,
- low-cost sensors measuring air quality,
- unique concrete protecting emulsion FLAX.

FLAX - Linseed oil emulsion

Do you have interlocking paving around the house, a driveway to the garage or another concrete surface (fences, walls, the entire parking lot)? Do you want to prevent the concrete from crumbling due to normal wear and tear, which you can easily bring on the wheels of your car? A simple help is treating the surface with FLAX, which significantly extends the life of concrete surfaces and thus saves you money. In addition, it does not smell and the impregnation is gentle on both the environment and those who work with the emulsion.

Inspection of bridge structures

High-quality and well-functioning bridges are essential for safe road traffic. With the help of bridge inspections, possible failures can be detected at the beginning of their occurrence, thanks to which the costs of their removal can be much lower than after months or years of uncontrolled degradation.

In case of detection of serious malfunctions, it may be decided to carry out a diagnostic survey. After all, this should also precede any major repair or reconstruction of the bridge. The basic goal of the diagnostic survey is to find the causes of failures or degradation of the structure and to determine their effect on the safety and lifespan of the bridge.

When examining the condition of bridges, CDV uses accredited laboratories in which it performs tests of concrete, aggregates, mortar, etc. It also performs non-destructive tests and measurements that do not require restrictions on traffic on the bridge.

Parking monitoring

At the Transport Research Center we have a vehicle with a special camera system and software that:
- reads and records license plates of parked vehicles day and night,
- distinguishes between three types of parking,
- records the GPS positions of the scanned vehicles, including the time stamp,
- assigns detailed location information based on GPS location to each registered license plate,
- creates a continuous video recording from cameras located on the roof of the vehicle.
The result of the monitoring can be, for example, the detection of the number of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles with a license plate containing the letters EL in a specific street. We will help to make the decision-making process about the need for charging stations and their location for the municipality. Another example of the use of a vehicle are surveys of the turnover rate of vehicles parked at hospitals, schools and offices. The output is information on how many vehicles change in the given parking spaces, how long they stay there and how the parking spaces are used.
